Canadian Postal Codes
ZIP Code Authentication Required (AVS Verification) To help prevent fraud and keep transactions secure, we use Address Verification System (AVS)—a standard tool that checks if the billing ZIP/postal code you enter matches the one on file with your credit card issuer.
Why This Matters
- For US cards: Enter your full 5-digit (or 9-digit) ZIP code exactly as it appears on your billing statement. The first two digits usually indicate the state, and the rest pinpoint your area.
- For Canadian cards: Canadian postal codes (e.g., M5V 3L9) use letters and numbers, but many US-based payment systems expect a numeric 5-digit ZIP format for AVS. Quick workaround (widely used and often successful):
- Take the three numeric digits from your postal code (in the order they appear, ignoring letters and spaces).
- Add "00" at the end to create a 5-digit code. Examples:
- M5V 3L9 → 53900
- A1B 2C3 → 12300
- K7L 4M5 → 74500
This is a common trick for Canadian customers on US platforms—it tricks the numeric field while allowing AVS to process (since many issuers focus on the numeric match or partial verification for international cards). It usually works for online purchases, but success can vary by card issuer and processor.
Tips for Smooth Checkout
- Double-check your billing address matches what's on file with your card company (including the postal/ZIP code).
- If the transaction declines: Try the workaround above, ensure no typos, or use a different card if possible (e.g., one issued in the US if you have it).
- For other countries (UK, Australia, etc.): Enter your full postal code as-is if the field allows letters; if it's strictly numeric, contact support or try a similar numeric approximation.
- If you're still having issues: Submit a support ticket—we can check your order details or guide you further (provide your order number and card country).
This security step protects everyone and is required for most online purchases. Thanks for your patience—we appreciate you choosing iPLEXsports / iPLEXtickets!
